How do You Make Your Miniature Marbles?
The Answer Is Simple...
Some of the More Commonly Asked Questions we get, while we can't answer the one above, there are some that we can provide some insights for... Maybe.
Before 2017, I was more than happy to create any color or style of Miniature Marbles you wanted. However, my wife Rebecca has now become the Primary Artist in the Studio and she's still learning the ropes. Until she gets a little more confident and able, we are only offering what is listed on the Shop Page and in our Etsy Store. This will hopefully change soon, when it does, we will create a link in the shop to make this an option.
Absolutely. Over the last Thirty Years, I have made Glass Beads, Pendants, Regular Art Marbles, Small Sculptures, and the Occasional Glass Pipes etc.
I am disabled now, and it's difficult for me to spend a great deal of time seated at the torch so I'm not making nearly as much as I used to. Once my wife gets the hang of things back there, we will be offering more variety and other items. Hang in there, she's learning. Once we get the studio back up and running, we will make other items available in our shop section.
When I first started making Miniature Glass Marbles, there weren't a lot of people in the world that even knew what they were. I don't know if I actually invented them or not, but I definitely created the Genre and forced them into the Public Spotlight. As of today, I have made around 10 Million individual Miniature Glass Marbles. We have sold them in all Fifty US States, over 100 Countries, and sent them to every continent in the world, even Antarctica. If all the Planets are Aligned, and everything goes smoothly, I can make them at a rate of Six or Seven per minute so there are a lot of my minis floating around out there. Now there are several glass artists making Miniature Marbles, and it's become a fairly well known and collectable form of Glass Marbles and I'm proud to say that I was probably the 'OG' behind that.
A lot of Glass Artists and Potters have wanted to know this, they have been used as eyes for sculptures, or added to other people's Art Glass Projects. As many of you know there are many different types of glass, and they may or may not be compatible. If this something that is important to you, Please Don't Hesitate to reach out to us and confirm what type of glass was used to make your miniatures. By in large, we use almost exclusively 104COE or Soft Glass, however we also make miniatures from Cullets of Vaseline and Custard Glass which are a different type of glass altogether. If you need a certain type, or need this information for a project of yours, please feel free to reach out to us and ASK!
I also do some Oil Painting, Soapstone Carving, and the occasional Decorative Gourds. I've never sold any of these, and probably won't... Long Story Short, I suck at Painting, Soapstone Carving and Gourds. If it's something that interests you, you are far better off finding another artist but if I ever get to the point where I feel like any of that work is decent enough to offer, I might throw it out there.
That's right. You can't. Not Yet anyway. It's something I'm going to be working on that is probably not going to be for the general public.
Your support and contributions will enable us to bring an end to gullibility. It is estimated that over 300 Million Americans suffer from some form of gullibility. By making a small one time donation today you can help us win the battle. Just look at that pitiful kitten in the picture, don't you want to help?
What's Happening? Great Question!
If you just don't have anything better to do, or you just can't stand not knowing what the 'Late' Great J. R. Hooper has been up to for the last little while, then welcome to 'My Blog'.
